Dear admissions officer 

I write you this letter, because I know I have a good profile to fit your undergraduate program on XXXXXXXX. I’m graduated from a school located in a deprived zone of Colombia, where I was educated in different areas such as Information Technology, foreign languages, and arts. Through these, I learnt to think algorithmically and developed different skills such as global thinking and design. 

I have chosen this major in Economics because I can get the necessary skills to analyze different economic phenomena such as globalization, allocation of resources, inequality, functioning of SMEs and public policies. Through this understanding, I can apply my mathematical skills into tangible models that may lead to understand better and get solutions for my community in Colombia, where I can work as a consultant, teacher or advisor. 

During my high school years in Colombia, I was distinguished by obtaining different prizes because of my academic performance, and was chosen to participate in a debate contest. Moreover, I was active participant of the church youth group where I helped the community. 

My background, combined with my willing to learn and discipline, will be very useful to get the best of your university and develop myself carrying along the name of your prestigious institution.
